I've been at Thomas Starr King MS since 2004, and I feel I have grown and evolved with the school. My first five years I was a 6^th grade Math and Science teacher, working with students of all levels, including ESL and Honors. During this time my adjunct duties included Science Lead Teacher and School for Advanced Studies Coordinator. The following two years I was the Technology Coach, helping integrate the Apple 1 to 1 program in 6^th grade classes, as well as rolling out the use of laptop carts in the Departments. I was fortunate enough to go back in the classroom and help pilot the first year of the Environmental STEAM Magnet Program, once again as a 6^th grade Math and Science teacher. Before serving in my current position as Assistant Principal, I was the Magnet Coordinator for about 3 years. My Bachelors is in Psychology and Business Administration and I have a Masters in Educational Administration.

King has evolved so much over the last two decades. I believe part of the reason we have been so successful is the increased parent and community involvement. Another reason is our school structure – we are set up as three magnets, where a core team of teachers is able to provide a personalized learning environment for each student.

I’M PROUD TO BE A KING LION, and as a full-school magnet, we are able to expand our boundaries and offer quality education to any student within LAUSD.
