Thank you so much for coming to my page here on the Thomas Starr King Middle School Website. Hello! I am Mx.Pineda (pronounced: mix pi-ne-duh) and I teach 7th grade English and 8th grade English, Math, History, and Science. I am going into my 2nd year with Thomas Starr King Middle School and I love it there! My birthday is February 4th. I do NOT like chocolate. My favorite color is green. My favorite foods are hot cheetos, pupusas, and mac and cheese and my favorite drink is cold green/black tea. I am Guatemalan and Honduran and I love to spend my free time traveling!

Schoology is very important in LAUSD and at Thomas Starr King Middle School. Schoology is the online platform that allows teachers to manage student grades, develop and deliver lessons and activities, and communicate with teachers, students, counselors, and parents. We are highly encouraging parents to create their parent Schoology accounts to receive regular updates and communicate with teachers. I hope to have all my students parents on Schoology with their own accounts by Spring 2021. Please reach out if you do not have a Parent Portal account and require assistance in creating one.

 

Schoology es muy importante en LAUSD y en Thomas Starr King Middle School. Schoology es la plataforma que permite los maestros dar calificaciones a los estudiantes, desarrollar y entregar lecciones y actividades, y comunicarse con maestros, estudiantes, consejeros y padres. Recomendamos a los padres que creen sus cuentas de Schoology para recibir actualizaciones periódicas y comunicarse con los maestros.Espero tener a todos mis alumnos padres en Schoology con sus propias cuentas para la primavera de 2021. Be Safe 

  • Be visible and active. Be a visible and active participant on video conferencing sessions and participate in class by having appropriate conversations and demonstrating safe behavior. 
  • Know your digital rights and responsibilities. Protect private information for yourself and others by appropriately using technology for ACADEMIC needs. Keep personal digital information and class information private. 

 

Be Respectful 

  • Focus on your lesson. For example, don’t play with toys/games, use other electronic devices including phones and tablets, or have conversations that distract you from the lesson etc.
  • Be kind and respectful to yourself, your classmates, your teachers, and your environment. 

 

Be Responsible

  • Try to find a quiet space to work in that helps you focus and concentrate.Stay muted during video conferences unless appropriately contributing to the discussion.
  • Be prepared. Come with your needed supplies, keep yourself organized,  and complete your assigned work. Come to the lesson ready to learn and be on time.  If you have any issues, it is your responsibility to reach out to your teacher through Schoology.
