OUR PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE FOR AUGUST 2008

Dear King Parents,
   
I would like to welcome back all of our continuing students and parents, and to extend a special welcome to the families of all of our new 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. As “King Lions,” you are part of a team of whose goal is to ensure the academic success of every child. King students, staff, and parents need to work together to provide a quality education and a safe and positive learning environment.
   
At King Middle school we truly value our parents’ participation and provide numerous opportunities for families to be involved with the educational program and governance of the school. Please join us at the following upcoming events:

• Coffee with the Principal takes place from 8:30-9:30 a.m. every 1st Tuesday of the month in the Parent Center. This is an opportunity for parents to meet school staff and other parents, talk about current issues, and learn about additional opportunities for parent involvement.

• CEAC (Title I), ELAC (English Learner) and SSC (School Site Council) Advisory Committee meetings. Membership in these committees allows parents to become part of the school governance and decision making process. These committees will meet:

• Thursday, August 21, at 8:00 a.m. in the Auditorium for an Orientation
• Thursday, August 28, at 8:00 a.m. in the Auditorium for Parent Elections to these Committees

• Learn English while your child participates in Saturday school. The ESL class for parents is from 8:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Childcare is provided for the children of parents attending this class.
  

As valuable members of our team, please help us emphasize the importance of respect for all students, staff and parents, attendance and punctuality, adherence to our uniform policy, and pursuit of academic excellence. Enroll your son or daughter in our academic support and enrichment programs, such as Saturday School, Intersession, and LACER which offer support to students in English, Math and ESL. Also, please ensure that your son/daughter uses his/her Academic Planner to support organization, study skills, and completion of all assignments. Report cards are mailed home every 4 weeks to inform parents of progress. Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns.
