PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE February 2007

Dear King Parents,
As we continue in our second semester, it is extremely important for your children to concentrate on their academics. We want all our students to be attentive in class, complete all their assignments and or projects, and take responsibility for the goal of 55+ credits in order to participate in the culmination ceremony scheduled for June 2007. To motivate our 8th grade students to continue to do well, we held the “Pin and Ribbon Ceremony” for Track C on January 18 and Track B on January 25. A Track’s ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, March 8, 2007. Each student who meets the graduation criteria (no more than 1 Fail and 2 U’s) earns a pin and ribbon. After the ceremony, these students are treated to cake and punch in our student cafeteria.

Our goal is to have King students attend a college or university of their choice in order to become productive citizens of our society, therefore our job is to empower our students with knowledge. We ask you to assist us in helping your child achieve this goal.

Monitor your children as they do homework, encourage them to read, or read with them and ask them to share something new they might have learned each day. With your assistance our students will come to school with clear minds and homework in hand ready to learn.

Our second semester is filled with fun activities; Pin and Ribbon Ceremony, Winter Ball, 8th Grade Picnic, Magic Mountain Trip and Culmination. It is also a time for testing. Testing our students helps determine the appropriate placement of students in classes (regular, honors, gifted, magnet). It’s also a determining factor in the reclassification of English Language Learners. I ask for your support in establishing the importance of doing well on these exams by assuring your children get enough rest and eat a good breakfast in order to have them put forth their best effort. Below is the testing window for our middle school students.
