WHAT: LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes (LA Plaza), Los Angeles’ newest cultural arts center, along with LA Art Machine hosts the Los Angeles International Urban Art Festival. The Los Angeles International Urban Art Festival will celebrate urban art at LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes. Visitors are invited to explore urban art in the heart of Los Angeles. Against the backdrop of LA Plaza, historical structures and greenways will merge into the city streets themselves, paralleling the emergence of street art as an artistic form that continues to shape and inspire artists and city-dwellers alike.
Paying homage to Los Angeles as a street art capital, while acknowledging urban art’s global influence, the festival will present multi-faceted forms of urban art. Programming will unfold into a moving environment of curated exhibitions, live painting, outdoor installations, music, food, vendors, dance, performance, and other
forms of urban expression.

Background: LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes is the nation's premier center of Mexican American culture. Providing an experience unlike any other, LA Plaza's interactive exhibits and dynamic programs invite visitors of all backgrounds to explore as well as contribute to the ongoing story of the Mexican Americans in Los Angeles and beyond. The mission of LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes is to celebrate and cultivate an appreciation for the enduring and evolving influence of Mexican and Mexican American culture, with a specific focus upon the unique Mexican American experience in Los Angeles and Southern California. Located near the site where Los Angeles was founded in 1781, LA Plaza's 2.2-acre campus includes two historic and newly renovated buildings (the Vickrey-Brunswig Building and Plaza House) surrounded by 30,000 square feet of public garden.
Festival Organization Background: The L.A. ART MACHINE, in partnership with FIND Art Magazine, and STROKE Urban Art Fair (Munich & Berlin), presents the first International Urban Art Festival paying homage to L.A.'s status as a street art capital while presenting exciting programming for Angelinos and out-of-town visitors alike. L.A. Art Machine (LAAM) is a Los Angeles based arts organization with an eye on global art phenomena. LAAM covers the most relevant and current happenings in the art world, organizes events, curates exhibitions, and advocates for a continuing and vital art community on all levels, from the local microcosm to the global expanse.
